Who this is for
- You have a tax debt you cannot pay in one go
- You have received a Director Penalty Notice
- The ATO has started debt recovery action
Payment plans are usually available
The ATO will generally agree to a payment arrangement if you engage with them. The key word is engage — debts that are ignored escalate to garnishee notices and legal recovery.
Director Penalty Notices are urgent
A DPN can make you personally liable for the company’s unpaid PAYG withholding, super and GST. Some DPNs have a 21-day window in which action can still remove your liability. If you have one, contact us today.
Penalties and interest can be remitted
General interest charge and failure-to-lodge penalties can be reduced or remitted where there is a reasonable explanation. It is worth asking, properly, in writing.
We deal with the ATO so you do not have to
As your registered tax agent we can speak to the ATO on your behalf, which for most people is the single biggest relief in the whole process.
Common questions
Can I get a payment plan?
In most cases yes, particularly if your lodgements are up to date. Getting current on lodgement is usually the first step.
I received a Director Penalty Notice. What now?
Treat it as urgent. Depending on the type of DPN and its timing, options may still be available — but they are time-limited. Call us the day you receive it.
Will the ATO take my house?
Recovery action escalates over time and there are usually several steps before anything that serious. Engaging early keeps the options open.
